5 things online poker legislation must accomplish

There is a lot of talk about the possibility of online poker legislation in the US after the Department of Justice reversed course on its interpretation of the 1961 Wire Act; there is also a number of states pursuing their own online poker legislation with everything from inter-state to intra-state online poker being discussed.

With players trying to make heads or tails of such a murky legislative process, Ive decided to take a look at what online poker legislation on the FEDERAL level must accomplish in order to be viewed as a success in my eyes.

Basically there are five important issues I feel online poker legislation has to address:

WSOP 2011 Round Up So Far

What’s Mickey Mouse Got to do with Gambling?

You know those old Disney cartoons of Mickey Mouse the farmer rushing with his rake and hoe to defend his land against whatever evil forces await him (tornadoes, floods, Goofy)?  Well, thats the image that popped into my head when I read this week that Walt Disney World in Florida objects to the expansion of gambling in the state and is doing everything it can to fight plans to build three new casinos  in South Florida.  The state government is desperate to generate revenue for state coffers and is mulling the idea of passing legislation to allow the building of these mega casino resorts.  H

News from 2012 Aussie Millions

The Aussie Millions is the only major global poker event held in Australia. It is hosted by Crown Casino in Melbourne. The poker tournament is held alongside another global sporting event which is the Australian Open Tennis Grand Slam Event. These two events were combined last year by the pairing of poker professional Gus Hansen and tennis professional Caroline Wozniacki. That affair is now over.
